Welcome to The Magic Theatre

About Us

The Magic Theatre .... an intimate and singular gathering of the tongue-in-cheek bohemian….unique... deliciously glamorous.... and very, VERY good fun...

Created for a happy, low-attitude mixed alliance of all ages, romantic inclinations, gender identities and none, who come together to flaunt, flirt, dance and converse in the finery of their choosing.

Our latest incarnation is inspired by 1930s Weimar genderqueer cabaret capers and the années folles of Parisian café society, re-interpreted in the here and now through dress, dance and interesting conversations with interesting people…

We are VERY excited therefore, to nestle into the welcoming, perfect and quirky arms of the London Theatre, champion of the avant-garde and unconventional -  a Lilliputian venue with a liberal dash of eccentricity, a big heart and a non-judgemental, beautiful mind..

Gender re-interpreted...with bells on!

Dance in the footsteps of our genderqueer, straight ally, bi and pan-sexual,  gay, lesbian, non-conformist, non-binary, queer, cross-dressing, transexual, and transvestite forebears...

Have fun, dress as you like, be addressed as you wish to be, dance your socks off, make friends, find lovers, bring significant other/s, sip a cocktail or sink a beer…

Music: Cherry-pickin' Dance Eclectica ( yes, I did actually make that up )

Dress Code: Dress to Impress, Astonish and Inspire!

The London Theatre

This little gem of a fringe theatre is hidden in  the basement of a large 4-storey building dating back to 1870 in New Cross, SE London. It's an intimate, intriguing and sociable place, alive with the idiosyncratic traces of productions past and present.

The theatre hosts a wide range of plays, workshops, art and music events, from stand-up comedy to niche drama, and also provides a safe space for the activities of a group of local model railway enthusiasts...Oh, and it also boasts ABBA the theatre dog, who watches proceedings from the sound booth...

The bar is surprisingly well-stocked for a small venue and best of all, it bears the very welcome distinction of being the cheapest theatre bar in London!
